“As long as you are living, you should be learning,” Donald Beam reminded his granddaughter Megan Hoppert throughout his lifetime. Hoppert gleaned so much from these wise words and the example of serving others that her pap showed her. With that deeply rooted inside her, she knew her life’s purpose was to help others. Out of that passion Metamorphosis Coaching & Consulting was born.

Becoming an entrepreneur wasn’t always the plan. With a mindset shift and linking arms with Startup Alleghenies, Hoppert realized she could invest in her community and change lives with her practice. “Startup Alleghenies has been extremely helpful. Matt has created connections and provided resources to launch my business to success,” she said. “They strive to empower small businesses.”

Coach Matt Reckner added, “Meg has a special gift of helping others. She provides the tools and strategies to break through roadblocks empowering individuals to reach their goals and highest potential. Her business is consistently transforming her clients.”

As with many emerging small businesses, Hoppert launched shortly before the world shut down. She began doubting her decision to open up shop. “I had many self-doubts I had to overcome. I had to prove to myself that I could do this. It’s not a side hustle; it’s my livelihood. I had no backup plan or exit strategy. This was it, and I was determined to make it work,” she said.

“After not reaching my goal for a couple of years. I dug deep and focused on creating my mindset shift and my transformation. Part of that was changing the name of my business. It went from Megan Hoppert Coaching & Consulting to Metamorphosis Coaching & Consulting… resembling my growth and transformation,” Hoppert shared. “Since that change, I have not only reached my goal but have soared past it and now serve 20 recurring clients monthly.”

Hoppert said that Startup Alleghenies was integral as she started the company. “They strive to empower small businesses.” Photo: Provided.

When a client is working with Hoppert, she said it’s like unraveling a ball of yarn. “I focus on three areas—mindset, self-image and relationships. They are all connected, and once we get started, it’s like a ball of yarn, and pulling on one strand impacts another,” she said.

Hoppert provides client-led sessions at the Wellness Community and via Zoom. “I prefer a more organic method, allowing the client to guide and direct the conversation. Every session is different and customized to the specific client and their needs,” she said. “I just pull out my Mary Poppins bag and offer tools and strategies to help their situation.”

Therapy, coaching, consulting—what’s the difference? “A key difference between a therapist and a life coach is therapy is often a look back and sorting through past trauma. A life coach collaborates with the client to focus on the present and moving forward,” Hoppert shared. “When collaborating with a coaching client, I don’t give answers or suggestions. I offer high-level, high-order questions to provoke thought for the answer that is already inside them. When I have a consulting client, I provide feedback and teach the tools and strategies.”

Life coaching is relatively new, and the Alleghenies offers the perfect location to grow and help others. “I am from here; I know the people. I am one of them. I knew that I could add value to this community by providing tools and strategies to create a roadmap to help others reach their goals. If you have a life, you could benefit from a life coach,” she laughed.

Being a life coach, Hoppert has advice for fellow entrepreneurs: “We are good at celebrating the big wins and successes. We often miss the opportunity to celebrate the small victories. When you have your own business, it’s important to celebrate those small wins to shift to a growth mindset.”
