Awards Gala recognizes Huntingdon business owners, and you’re invited

HCBI Annual Awards Gala recognizes small business owners’ innovation and entrepreneurship.
Huntingdon County Business and Industry is hosting its Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, September 22 at Huntingdon Country Club, where it will be recognizing local small business owners for innovation and entrepreneurship in Huntingdon County. And you can get your tickets to attend until September 20.
“The event is an evening of celebration for our business community,” Huntingdon County Startup Alleghenies Coach Christa McGeary said. “We discuss the current business climate in Huntingdon, the outside impacts on our local economy, present and future concerns across industries, and share success stories of those that managed to overcome adversities throughout the year.”
The event will feature guest speaker, local educator and entrepreneur, James Tierney, who teaches entrepreneurship at Susquehanna University, and owns Blue Brick Theater in State College, home of Happy Valley Improv.
The evening will end with an award ceremony, with awards being given in three categories: Keystone, Reinvention and Entrepreneur.
McGeary said that the gala is a way to recognize the small businesses in the Huntingdon area and amplify the resources available in the area. “To date, the Startup Alleghenies initiative has provided Huntingdon County with the tools and resources to assist over 150 clients,” she said. “A few of those client projects will be highlighted during the dinner and some have been nominated for recognition through our Entrepreneur Award category. Last year, two Startup Alleghenies clients were celebrated for their achievements with this award, Braxton Knable of The Roast Post and Sean Steeg of Juniata Brewing Company. Another client, Chad Heichel of Muddy Run Tavern, received the Reinvention Award.”

The event is a great way to network with others in the Huntingdon area ecosystem.
She says that the event is a must for community members, especially entrepreneurs and people considering a small business. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to begin and continue conversations that are relevant to your ideas, operations and industry. You’ll be able to gain some new information that could personally benefit your business.”
A limited number of tickets are still available. Guests will have the opportunity to network during the cocktail hour from 5:30 pm until dinner is served at 6:30 pm. The night will come to a close following our awards ceremony at 8:30 pm. Ticket proceeds help support economic development in the Huntingdon County community. You can reserve tickets by calling 814-506-8287 or emailing Christa at cmcgeary@hcbi.com.
